Much of my work is for outdoor display, mainly totems, but also some items like bird houses. Large totems are made of several separate pieces placed on rebar that has been pounded into the ground. Pieces smaller than 15 inches, but more than 8 inches are one piece and are great placed in a planter, on a table or on the ground. The even smaller ones are meant to be placed on a section of rebar either pounded into the ground or in the middle of a plant so that only the totem is showing through the greenery. Depending on the style, the hanging totems may be one piece or several. All totems are made from medium fire clay and glazes and have proven to survive the Portland winters. Some people find that they prefer to have a totem indoors.
